Ashford Hill with Headley

Last year, a number of dead trees were removed from the recreation ground, and the pollarding of several other trees was undertaken in order to prolong their lives. The Parish Council has now completed the project by planting new tree saplings to enhance the natural beauty of this open space in future years.

The Parish Council has planted 28 root ball saplings around the perimeter of the recreation ground which includes native species such as Hornbeam, Red Maple, Black Alder, Sweet Cherry, Beech and Oak.

Deer and rabbit guards have been added to protect the saplings and to improve their chances of surviving.

The project also includes a watering regime in the spring in order to ensure as many of the saplings survive and establish themselves in the future months and years.

The whole project has been funded from Community Infrastructure Levy funding which is generated from a levy imposed on housing development companies undertaking housing developments in the local area.
